MRT Imposes Headway Time to 10 Minutes

PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta is increasing headway time to 10 minutes starting on Monday (3/1) for all operating hours in connection with the implementation of the micro-scale public activity restrictions (PPKM Mikro).

This aims to support what the government has set as a new strategy to stop the potential spread of COVID-19

It is a follow-up to the Governor Decree number 107/2021 on PPKM and a reply letter from Jakarta Transportation Agency Head number 755/-1.811.32, as well as an evaluation of the previous operating pattern on the number of passengers.

Here are the changes to the MRT Jakarta operating service policy are as follows:

1. Monday - Friday (5 PM to 10 PM) and Saturday - Sunday (6 AM to 8 PM)

2. Headway system:

• Weekdays

a. Every 10 minutes for rush hour (7 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM)

b. Every 10 minutes in off peak hours

• Weekend: Every 10 minutes

3. 62-67 passengers per car or 390 passengers per train

Operational and Maintenance Director Muhammad Effendi uttered that all forms of adjustments to the applicable operational schedule were a form of support for the government's efforts in curbing the pandemic.

"This aims to support what the government has set as a new strategy to stop the potential spread of COVID-19," he expressed, Monday (3/1).

He added the MRT's initial commitment was to continuously provide optimal service, and to function as a provider of public transportation to facilitate all forms of mobile community activities, especially in Jakarta.

Nevertheless, they urged all residents to be disciplined in implementing health protocols in the MRT Jakarta environment.

"Must wear masks, maintain physical distancing, wash your hands diligently, and not speaking in one or two directions, while inside the train and station platform area," he closed.
